Did you know that the average person loses an hour a day due to disorganization? How much money are you spending 'looking for things'?

February 2, 2017

Have you started trying to locate all of the necessary documents to file your taxes?  A few receipts in your desk drawer?  A few more on your dresser? What about that pile of 'stuff' on top of the fridge?  Crammed in the dash of your car?  You know the scenario.  Now is the time you realize how disorganized your important, financial documents are.

Filing our Income Tax Returns is generally not something we enjoy, however, if you are organized it can be a lot less painful and frustrating.  If you're starting this year without any preparation, it could take a considerable amount of time to locate all required documents.  Chances are, there will be one or two pieces of missing receipts that you can't get your hands on.  This can cost you money and time - especially if you locate them a week or two later and run them into your tax professional.  What if you miss out on a tax benefit you are entitled to but can't find have 'that piece of paper' you need? Very few of us...

Don't forget that January is officially Get Organized month!  I'm sure you've been busy cleaning and organizing lots of spaces in your home and office.  Maybe you've thought a lot about it, but haven't quite yet 'gotten around to it yet'??  Not to worry!  Today we're sharing a list of our top organizing products to help get you organized. There are numerous, wonderful items to help you get organized, however, today we are going to focus on the top products we absolutely love.

Bins & Baskets

We can't say enough about baskets and bins. They can be used in laundry rooms, kitchens, basements, kids rooms, bedrooms, living room, EVERY room!  Larger, plastic bins are great for storing seasonal items, clothing, blankets, etc.  We prefer using see-thru bins so you can tell at a glance what's in them – saving you from pulling each one down and opening it until you find what you're looking for.  Labelling your bins – which we strongly suggest – will save you lots of time and energy...

We all do it.  We collect something.  Pretty pillows?  Anything with a cat picture on it?  Cozy blankets? Mugs?  Vases?  Table cloths? Napkin rings? You name it, one of us collects it.  Chances are, we've been collecting our whole lives without being aware of it.  Personally, I was obsessed with Barbie Dolls and had to have each new one as it was available; and their matching outfits; and shoes; and purses.  My brother loved toy cars.  Didn't matter the style, colour, or model.  The more the better. There were boxes and boxes of toy cars in his bedroom. However,  I can't say too much about his collection considering I had my Barbie collection in a suitcase. There was no way on earth it would fit into one of those teeny, tiny doll cases!

The point is, most of us collect without even being aware of it.  More often than not, the things we collect become clutter.  They generally don't serve a real purpose, we don't use them, we like...

Did you know that January is National Get Organized Month? Indeed it is and what perfect timing!  As we move forward into 2017 with our resolutions fresh in our minds, it's the perfect time of year to make a promise to ourselves that THIS is the year to organize our homes, our offices, our cars, and even our little fur babies.  In fact, with determination and a little guidance from us, you will learn how to organize and prioritize, save money and time, and best of all - learn how to love the space you're living in with a lot less stress.  What a perfect and obtainable goal as we celebrate  2017 with a fresh, new outlook on life!

Let's start with a few questions that will help guide you throughout the entire process of organizing and decluttering your home.  I've referred to it many times and keep a copy on my desk next to me so I can always stay on track.  Even professional organizers need a little reminder every now and then!

We suggest you print multiple copies o...

The holidays provide us with a wonderful opportunity to entertain our family and friends, catch up on old times, and make new memories that we will cherish for years to come.  Whether you plan on entertaining two or twenty-two guests, organization is key to a stress-free and successful gathering.

How many times do you think about having a few friends over, maybe your co-workers, or perhaps your neighbours?  Sounds like a great idea. Then you start thinking about what to serve, how to decorate, do you have enough glasses, napkins, cutlery or plates, and so on.  Chances are your thoughts go on overdrive and you become overwhelmed at the thought of getting everything done. So, you give up on your wonderful idea of hosting a holiday party.  However, by being organized you can remove that burden of stress and enjoy planning and entertaining in true holiday style.

We’ve compiled a list for you to use as a guideline to help you start planning your holiday entertaining.  By following...

How many times have you spontaneously started break-dancing in the middle of the night as you tiptoe into your child’s bedroom to check on them?  How about the ‘hop on one foot and hold your breath dance’?  What about the ’hand over your mouth and try not to scream’ dance? Anyone who has stepped on a piece of wayward Lego knows exactly what I am talking about.  How can such a tiny piece of plastic cause such excruciating pain?  I honestly don’t know, but I do know it hurts - a LOT!

Let’s not forget the times we’ve inadvertently stepped on the world’s most special baby doll and made her scream “Mama”.  Trust me; the doll scream is nothing compared to a four year olds scream  when she thinks you’ve just squashed the life out of her ‘baby’.

Sound familiar?

No matter how much time we spend picking up their toys or cleaning their bedrooms, kids can completely destroy a room in a matter of minutes.  If you’re reading this blog, chances are you know exactly what I...

In today's iPhone/Android age, it is no surprise that there is literally an app for everything.  Whether it's something to keep you entertained or stay organized, there is just about any type of application imaginable out there.

Many of our clients are surprised to know that our services include office organizing - and we get a lot of customers with bustling businesses and home offices on our roster.  One key way that we can help to organize your chaos is by implementing ideas and tips/tricks to help with the paper clutter!

While we all love a good, clean, organized filing system (really, who doesn't?!) we also understand today's business needs.  With so many people on the go - and doing business in unconventional locations (coffee shops, touch-down temporary offices, in-home consultations, etc), it's important to have a solution that can follow you and your clients almost anywhere.  This week, we are taking a look at PDF Expert - the app that lets you create, m...

Crisp fresh air, cold noses, and warm fuzzy sweaters can only mean one thing – fall is here!  This past weekend, I indeed pulled on a warm, fuzzy sweater, went outside and inhaled the crisp, fresh air.  I soon had a cold nose.  Yep, fall is upon us and so is garden clean up time. I pulled on my rubber boots, grabbed a pair of gardening gloves and off to the garage I trotted to fetch the items I needed, confident it would only take me a few seconds to locate them.  Admittedly, it took me longer than a few seconds, in fact, it took me over 10 mins of searching and digging to find everything I needed.  As I walked out of the garage trying to dodge the snake-like hoses that I swear were trying to crawl up my leg, I knew what was next on my to-do list – organizing the garage.

The garden beds were raked, bulbs were hauled up and readied for storage, and plants that had to wait until now to be divided were safely tucked in new beds.  Burlap wraps were rolled up and placed...
