Fall is the perfect time of the year to start organizing your kitchen. With the cool breeze blowing outside, it’s time you step up to revamp your kitchen for the season. After all, it’s worth noting that the holidays are just a few weeks away. Here are some simple yet effective tips to organize your kitchen for this vibrant season:
Clear out the fridge & freezer
Clear out remnants from the warmer months such as freezer-burned Popsicle sticks and old food supplies that are past their expiration date. Replace these meals with loads of root vegetables, cans of soup, hearty cuts of meat and frozen meals. While you purge, analyze all the summer leftovers you can use for the fall season. This includes the fresh batch of tomato sauce you made when tomatoes were in season!
Organize your baking essentials
Fall is the perfect time of the year to bake cookies, pies, fresh loaves of bread – you name it. To ensure you don’t turn your kitchen into a chaotic mess, make sure all of your baking essentials are organized and easily accessible. This includes baking trays, tools, sprinkles, cupcake liners and loads more. You're also better off storing baking essentials such as flour, sugar, and honey in separate compartments and storage bins. You can also label the bins to save time.
Consider meal planning
Once your kitchen is a bit more organized, why not take it one step forward and organize your meal plans. Consider planning meals to utilize all the ingredients you have found inside your pantry. Start by making a list of all the ingredients you have and then spend some time coming up with ideas of delicious meals you can cook.
Celebrate with a homemade Pumpkin Spice Latte
What better way to celebrate the season than to whip yourself up a pumpkin spice latte. Here’s a recipe that you’re bound to love!
In a small saucepan on medium heat, heat up the pumpkin pie spice and pumpkin, adding a generous amount of black pepper. Stir the mixture constantly for about 2 minutes
Once the mixture has cooked, add sugar and continue stirring until you have a thick bubbly syrup
Add in the vanilla and milk, be careful of the heat since you don’t want the milk to boil over
Use a hand blender to blend the mixture until its frothy
Divide the espresso into two mugs and add the frothed mixture on top
Garnish your pumpkin spice latte with nutmeg, cinnamon or pumpkin spice
Drink up while it’s still warm!
